The current complex environment requires multilateral responses from all sectors when it comes to tackling social, environmental, and economic challenges. The 9th edition of the International IVIRMA Congress will have a strong sustainable impact, as its organisation and development will leverage technology, digital innovation, and health prevention.
Why are we committed to sustainability?
In our company, sustainability is understood as a way of doing business with a conscience, which results from listening to our stakeholders. Any event we organise is managed form this three-pronged approach: social, economic, and environmental.
As far as sustainability is concerned, we are convinced it should be a cross-cutting issue in the management of Reproductive Medicine, as well as have a positive impact on Society, reducing the carbon footprint and focusing on Health in all its forms.
Although we innovate and go one step further every year in our social and environmental commitments, there are certain guidelines governing our activity in terms of sustainability. Please find in the following video an example of what the IVIRMA Sustainable Congress 2019 was like: web

From your computer…
There is no turning back on the road to digitalisation at IVIRMA. At our company we are facing this paradigm shift with our homework done and with the conviction that digital transformation is the present and the future of our company. Therefore, this year, within the current social and economic context, we are committed to holding an online congress, backed by our extensive experience in digital platforms and online learning.
experience in digital platforms and online learning. Our robust technical infrastructure in the area of Global Education allows us to offer you an innovative Congress without leaving your home, breaking down physical barriers and enabling work-life balance at a time when necessity reigns supreme. Without the need to travel and with a lower environmental impact…
IVIRMA International Conference welcomes more than 1,600 attendees from over 70 countries.
- The absence of travelling results in a drastic reduction of the carbon footprint.
- The Zero Waste objective, which has always been present at our congresses, is particularly relevant in this ninth edition, due to the digitalisation of the congress and elimination of all physical materials, both those related to papers and stage design.
- The elimination of plastic in all its forms is a given fact in this 9th edition.
- Optimising energy consumption is one of our energy priorities. The event’s online format leads to a significant reduction in electricity consumption for the organisation and running of the event.
All these actions allow us to mitigate our environmental impact and strengthen our commitment to sustainability in the short, medium, and long term.
Committed to health…
The 2030 Agenda, adopted by the United Nations in 2015, is an action plan for people, our planet and prosperity, while also intending to strengthen universal peace and access to justice, by fostering partnerships.
The Agenda sets out 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) covering the economic, social, and environmental spheres and incorporating global social challenges.
With the aim of being part of these key agents for development and aligning ourselves with the 2030 Agenda, we have identified the significant SDGs based on their prioritisation by the organisation and IVIRMA's stakeholders. This process was carried out by means of a survey completed by more than 200 people, including stakeholders and key people at IVIRMA. SDG 3 "Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages" is one of the goals designated a priority. For this reason, the Sustainability Plan for this Congress will focus on this goal.
Health above all
During 2020 and 2021, the effectiveness of IVIRMA's risk management approach was proven following the declaration of the COVID-19 pandemic, as we declared the Health and Safety of our stakeholders a key element of our work. Our commitment to a safe and healthy environment is embodied in this online Congress, thus helping to avoid potential and unnecessary risks as well as continuing to put Health above anything else.
